The members of Women's Alliance of Southeastern Massachusett's acknowledge that the land which our coalition has been formed, and each member occupies, is the original homeland of the Mashpee Wampanoag, Aquinnah Wampanoag, and Nipmuc, tribal nations. As distinct and sovereign nations, the Mashpee Wampanoag, Aquinnah Wampanoag, and Nipmuc  have maintained a continued presence on this land, given the name New England by colonial settlers, stretching back to before the 12th century. We pay respects to their elders, past and present.
